About Our Campaign
We’ve Paid Our Share. Now It’s Time To Have A Say.
For nearly 40 years, we have paid billions in dedicated sales taxes —0.5 cents on every purchase —with the promise to improve roads and transit, and yet our neighborhood streets are crumbling, people can’t get to where they need to go efficiently, and our kids can’t get to school safely.
Despite generating $3 billion, our transportation system hasn’t kept pace with our county’s growth. The result? Whether you walk, bike, drive, or take public transportation, getting around is too expensive, unreliable, takes too long, and is unsafe.
Billions later, what do we have to show for it?
- Too much sprawl and pollution, endangering health and quality of life for us and our children and grandchildren.
- Frustrating, long commutes that affect our ability to find and keep decent jobs. Long commutes, particularly for Fresno County’s working parents, who are spending hours commuting, time they could be spending their kids.
- Transportation-related pollution and sprawl because of bad transportation planning.
- Delays and struggles getting to school, medical appointments, and shopping due to heavy traffic and unreliable public transit.
- A lack of connections across the region, especially for rural residents, which means too many people are isolated in their communities.
- Long commutes, particularly for Fresno County’s working parents, who are spending hours commuting, time they could be spending their kids.
- Crumbling neighborhood roads and lack of safe pedestrian pathways.
